Ancillary Relief (financial settlement)

We understand that this aspect of any divorce is a potential minefield
and will always strive to make the process as manageable and agreeable as
possible. There are numerous rules and regulations governing the procedures, in addition to guidance handed down from the Court of Appeal and House of Lords.
However, it should be noted that no two cases are the same. Some of the issues for consideration in order to reach a decision regarding financial split include: the ages of the parties, the number and ages of children, the equity in the matrimonial home, the earning capacity (and therefore borrowing capacity) of each party, maintenance rights for both children and ex-spouse, pension entitlements, their reasonable needs, savings, possible future inheritance, likelihood of re-marriage or cohabitation, the needs of dependent “children”
including those at university, etc. And that's just for starters.
